My favorite part of yesterdays whole inaguration festivities was the benediction given by this guy.
Here's the part I liked: "Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around ... when yellow will be mellow ... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen."
Sounds like a bad song from the 70's or something. When brown can stick around... when yellow will be mellow...when the red man can get ahead, man...
Classic! I think I'm gonna like it here. As long as whitey's always righty.

That was a great ending to the benediction. I think I am going to use it for my nightly prayers.
I truly was a classic!
Steve was telling me about this prayer and how racist it was. I like your interpretation better. Very funny.
And that picture of Jesse on the side is so precious.
First of all, I'm so glad this wasn't a post about Jesse's first bowel movement.
Secondly, I can't wait until white folks embrace what is right too. Maybe we should have a motto... like, I don't know... Choose The Right?
The deleted comments always drive me crazy wondering what I missed out on hearing.
MM- That wasn't an interpretation, it was a quote. And it reminded me of that person every fast and testimony meeting that just has to get up and say something crazy or awkward that makes us all feel uncomfortable. I live for those people.
Does yellow really need to mellow? Drive better, maybe.
Katie, he's trying to bring us all together, let's not tear down, K.
