This post is dedicated to my favorite "legal" app from the app store. As many of you know I watch about 60 hours of TV a week. It's my other job. The pay isn't good but the payoff is priceless. Ask anybody that's played TV/Movie SceneIt with Brenda and me.

I recently switched to DirecTV after DishNetwork notified us that they were raising their rates. Even after they dropped our local American Idol station. Anyway, I love DirecTV especially the ability to set my DVR from my phone. Here's some pics of the process. If any of you already have DirecTV and you don't have this set up yet, you don't know what you're missing.

Brenda's getting ready to roll into surgery and I just realized I
didn't tell you guys what's going on.

Ever since her c-section her voice hasn't worked right. They checked
it out and she developed a growth on her vocal cord from the
intubation. Today they're gonna remove it and hopefully give Brenda
back her voice.

Well after much research a few sleepless moments and an "intense" negotiation with the loco-al Hyundai dealer, we made the short drive to Magic Mountain and bought a car from them. What a difference. I don't know how the Bako Hyundai dealer stays in business with how poorly they treat their customers.

Before we went to the first dealer, Brenda was so excited to have her first new car buying experience and naievly thought it would be "fun."

We used to watch a reality show on A&E called "King of Cars" that follows a crazy car dealership in Vegas. They make the car buying experience look fun. Brenda was very disappointed. At one point, 4 hours into it, Brenda complained of a headache and said, "Just take me home." It was kind of like a kid who sees their mom pushing a vacuum and thinks it looks like fun. They want to try it. Then after 3 passes they realizes it's work.

Let's just say when it comes to buying cars I put on my "game face." I get like Donald Trump and no deal is good enough until I'm convinced they are losing money by selling the car to me. I know it's ruthless, but it's my money! They can make money off the next guy.

Long story long we ended up driving to Valencia and the buying experience was what Brenda thought the first experience would be like. We did all the negotiating online and a couple phone calls and when walked into the dealership there; easy breezy and it was a done deal. NICE!!

Needless to say we love our new car and it will serve our growing family well.

Last night we had the missionaries over for dinner. One of the elders is from Japan. I served my mission in Japan so I thought it would be cool to make Japanese food. We had them make their own California rolls (Not really Japanese by the way). The Japanese Elder was the best at making the sushi, surprise, surprise. I had never made sushi before but my parents bought me a how to book with supplies, so we did it. It was fun seeing the Elder from UT trying to make this big ol' fat roll that barely closed. Then we ate Japanese Curry for the main course. It was a good time. The Waite House Sushi Bar is now open for reservations. But don't get your hopes up it's very exclusive.

This post is really late but here it is.
Let me introduce you to our family's favorite person. This is Amie Timpson. She enjoys barefoot walks in the rain, watching snow fall and loves being a mom.
She's been living with us since December and is the one who keeps our house running. She doesn't like the title nanny. That's not good enough anyway. Supernanny is more like it. I call her "authorized user"; it's an inside joke. She's more like the house manager. She's a gourmet chef, super with Jesse and takes such good care of Brenda.
Brenda tells me almost everyday how lucky we are to have her with us. I could go on and on how much we appreciate her but it wouldn't be enough. People who know she's living with us always ask, "so how's it going?" We always say good, but what we really want to say is it's never been better. She has a 5 year old daughter who loves Jesse to death and is such a good helper.
Well anyway, if you bump into her on the street or in the store or online go ahead and thank her for us. If you're on facebook add her as a friend. If you know any prince charmings hook her up. She's single and looking for a good man. Only the engagement has to be long enough for us to find someone to replace her which may be indefinately.
Anyway just had to let you guys know about our bestest friend Amie. Thanks for doing such a good job Amie!

Happy 14 Year Anniversary

We celebrated our 14th year of being married on the 14th, but we were so busy I didn't get to post an announcement. I just wanna say that I am so luck to be married to Brenda. She is the most unselfish person I know. She literally risked her life to give me the best anniversary present I have ever gotten. Jesse makes our family complete. We are so blessed and love being an item. This is a picture of the day we got engaged which was the day I was released from my mission in Japan. That's Okayama Castle in the background. This year will make 20 years of us being together. It just seems like yesterday when Brenda called me up and asked, "So are we an item?" And we've been an item ever since. I love you Brenda.

pound. He's getting so big. Now he's using gestures to communicate

You type in a group or song you like and it knows what kind of music you like and randomly plays songs. It is worth checking out. Especially if you have an iPhone.

Trip to KC- Liberty- Independence - Adam-Ondi-Ahman

Last week my Dad and I went to Kansas City, MO. for a business meeting. I was surprised how green everything was. I always imagined Missouri and Kansas as a dusty tumbleweed place.(kinda like Bakersfield) While we were there we had some time to see some church sites. We saw Liberty Jail.They had a nice visitor's center. It was a neat multimedia presentation that really touched me to hear what Joseph went thru in that place. We also went to Independence, MO. and we saw where the temple will be built and the reorganized church's temple. My favorite stop on our trip was to Adam-Ondi-Ahman. This is where Adam went after leaving the garden. It is also the place where there will be the Grand Council when all the prophets including Adam return their priesthood keys back to Christ prior to the Millenium.

We had some delays in coming back home that made for a frustrating end to the trip, but the trip was well worth it. Go check it out if you're in the neighborhood.

The Most Exciting 4th of July in History.

Yesterday was so exciting it took me 1 whole day to calm down and blog about it. Although it was my sister Anna's B-Day that's not what made it so exciting. (Happy Birthday Anna!) The fireworks which were fun were not the source of such glee.

It was the Annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. Last year Joey Chestnut won by eating 66 Hot Dogs and Buns in 12 minutes. After 6 years he brought the mustard yellow back to US soil from Japan. Yesterday Joey and Kobayashi squared off again. This time after 10 minutes the contest ended in a tie 59 hot dogs each. To settle the tie they were each given 5 more hot dogs and had a sudden death eat off. Joey won by eating those five hot dogs in 50 seconds a full 7 seconds faster than Kobayashi. Congrats to Joey the number 1 eater in the WORLD!

It's a sad day in California. In Cali we can no longer hold our cell phones up to our ears. It's too unsafe they say. I think this is ridiculous because they're not saying you can't use your phone they're just saying you can't hold it up to your ear. That's just stupid. What are they going to do next require helmets to be worn in the car? After all car crashes are the number one cause of head and brain injuries. I am getting used to wearing my helmet just in case.

p.s. I know I need to strap it up for best effectiveness.

Our 1st Ultrasound...It's a...Velosiraptor?

This picture doesn't do it justice but I guess ultrasounds never do. We went in for our first ultrasound today and it was like a ride a Disneyland. A 1 hour wait for two minutes of joy. We were able to see and hear the heartbeat. We saw some very clear pictures of the baby but the ultrasound tech didn't snap the pictures quick enough so this is what we ended up with for proof that there really is a bun in the oven. It kind of looks like a small dinosaur. The tech said everything looks fine. We go back in on Wed to see the Doc.

I went to the Elton John concert and it was good. At the last minute I managed to sell two of the tickets and my friend and his two kids came with me to see Sir Elton. Man, that guy plays a mean pinball (piano). He rocked for 2 & 1/2 hours straight. He sang all his best songs and it made for a memorable/expensive experience.

A while back I got this great idea to buy these Elton John tickets and sell them for a profit. It turns out there are more people who think they could make a profit from Elton John tickets than actual fans who are willing to pay more than face value. I bought 6 tickets thinking I would make anywhere from $50 to $400 profit. The tickets cost me $100 each and here it is the day of the concert and I'm stuck with them and all my friends and family have abandoned me to try and scalp them at the concert.

"That's what you get." Brenda said, "Never again!"

OK, so if I don't sell them I'm picking up 5 homeless friends and we're gonna sing "Sad Songs" together.

Some Better Days

I'm sorry for leaving everybody hanging on such a sad note. We have had some good news since I posted last. We found another dog and named her Angel. She has really become a part of our family and seems really happy to be out of the dog pound. Here she is.

We celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary by going to Florida. Visiting Disney's EPCOT center and watching the Space Shuttle launch were a couple highlights of the trip.

Brenda loved getting in the ocean in the Gulf of Mexico near Tampa Bay.

The Saddest Day of Brenda's Life

Yesterday was the saddest day of Brenda's life. Our dog Toby had to be put to sleep. It was a hard decision but we didn't want him to be in pain. While we were on vacation he lost a quarter of his body weight and went completely blind. The Vet suspected it was diabetes that caused the weight loss and cataracts. He was a huge part of our lives for the last 9 years and we have many good memories that will always be with us. Here's a little tribute to our baby.

Toby doesn't change much but Brenda's hair does check it out.

Brake Job & Brother in Law

The other day I noticed my brakes were making a squeeking noise. I knew I needed new brake pads but the number 1 rule of brakes or any car repair is never to go into a repair shop and tell them what you think is wrong with your car, because they will always find a bunch of more things wrong with your car and before you know it, you're taking out a 2nd on your home just to pay for all the repairs.

I went to "Discount Tires" to get my brakes looked at but when I saw their "Prices" on the Car Menu I couldn't resist.

The sign said, "Tire Rotation $4.95 per tire." I said to the guy behind the counter, "I'd like to rotate 1 tire for $4.95." He gave me a totally confused look. He then tried, unsucessfully, to describe why he couldn't rotate just 1 tire. I replied, "Well, if you can't rotate just 1 tire why do you charge per tire?" I asked, "Don't most people get all their tires rotated...why charge by the tire?"

Here's where it gets interesting...A little further down the price list they had "Brake Inspection - Free." In order for them to do a "Brake Inspection" they had to remove all the tires...so why couldn't they just shuffle the tires after the free brake inspection. I don't know...it doesn't matter.

Just as I suspected, by the time they were done with the "Free Brake Inspection" they found about $200 worth of "work I absolutely needed." I took their paper work and said, "Thanks but no thanks!"

I went and bought brake pads at the car parts store and Scott, Molly's finance, helped me install my new brakes and I saved a bundle and learned a valuable lesson. Be careful when people tell you about free "fill in the blanks"

OK, here are my 6 Facts:

1. I have a serious aversion to “wire hangers” ever since I was a kid and saw the movie “Mommie Dearest.(1981)” To this day I can’t stand having my clothes on “wire hangers!”

2. When I go grocery shopping I like Paper & Plastic. I like my groceries put in Paper bags and I prefer to pay with Plastic. People who write paper check to pay for their groceries IRK me.

3. When people talked about Asparagus making your pee smell different I didn’t believe them until recently. Enough said about that.

4. Forrest Gump (1994) is one of my favorite movies. I watched for the first time in the hotel (PPV) the night before Brenda and I were married.

5. I love music from the 80’s. I don’t know if it’s my Dad rubbing off on me or what; but I love the 80’s like my Dad loves the 60’s.

6. Like Kip from Napoleon Dynamite (2004), I love Technology! If you can push, pull, click click it, I like it and have probably been online looking for the best deal on it!

Flying Under the RADAR

As many of my loyal bloggers have noticed I've been flying under the RADAR or as I like to say "Off the Grid" for the last week or so. That's right no cell phone, email, Internet & no plastic in my wallet...come to think of it, no wallet or even shoe laces. I was figuratively flying by the seat of my pants...under the RADAR of course.
The good news is I'm back on track and on the grid with almost all my tools including my PC, Cell Phone, Laptop, e-mail and my "Beautiful Co-Pilot" who stood by thru this entire trial by fire. She's my "Guardian Angel." I would also be totally ungrateful if I didn't thank my Mom & Dad for their continued support and encouragement! I would also like to thank all my Bro's & Sisses and Nieces & Nephews for all the prayers and kind thoughts. I love you guys a ton.

What I'm Thankful For

Usually on my blog I try to keep things entertaining and try hard to avoid being too mushy or sentimental. I'm going to depart from my rule today and tell everybody what I'm thankful for.

Brenda and I were enjoying our second "business trip" together in less than one week and we starting thinking about all of our blessings. We have been so blessed lately and it all started because my mom and dad took the risk of offering me a job with their company here in Bakersfield. At first we resisted but soon realized what a great opportunity it was. So here's the mushy part...

I want to publicly thank my mom and dad for seeing the potential in me and going out on a limb by hiring me to come work for them. Moving back to Bakersfield and working with dad has been one of the greatest blessings in my life. THANKS Mom & Dad!

Ok, enough with the mushy stuff. The next post will NOT be mushy. I promise.

Movie Review: Tim reviews Dan in Real Life

I am the first one to admit that some of the movies I have recommended in the past ended up only being funny to "moi". But, you know there's a big BUTT coming, I mean BUT coming; I am going to recommend this movie for one reason only.

Are you curious what that reason is?

Hold your horses Tonto, it's coming. This movie was funny enough for a guy not to get bored by stupid dialog and it was "chick-flicky" enough that Brenda's eye's started sweating. So there you have it it's the perfect "guy-funny" and "chick-flick" HYBRID! There I said it now leave me alone, OK?

Spoiler there is even a "built-in pee-break!" If you go see the movie which is PG-13 by the way you can avoid the "13" part of the movie by doing what I did. There's a scene where "Dan" who's in love with his brother's girl friend and he finally decides to confront her about it. He goes into the bathroom so they can talk in private. That's your cue to get up stretch your legs and run to the bathroom because you only have about 2.5 minutes to get back and the only thing you would have missed is how "Dan" escapes from the bathroom without being caught by his family and the "13" part after that where his brother gives him some advice on how to release his pent up sexual frustration. If that one scene was left out "G" or "PG" FOR SURE.

That's why I give this movie the prestigious rating of 4 out of 5 on my finger scale. That's all fingers minus the middle.

November 12, 1989...the first of many best days of my life.

November 12, 1989...now that is a date I'll never forget. That was 3 days after Brenda and my first date.

Why is that special you ask...

That's the date that Brenda called me up and asked, "So, are we an item?" I said, "sure" and the rest is history.

Today, Brenda and I are celebrating our 18 year anniversary of "going out."

We celebrated by eating the MOST expensive meal we have ever eaten. Thanks Dad!
Tonight we are at a place that calls itself , "California's Best..." I'm not sure what the "..." means but TONIGHT I will find out.

I love you so much Brenda. I am so glad you made that call 18 years ago. We are definitely an ITEM! I can't wait to see what the next 18 years bring. Nighty night sleep tight!

Water, water, water everywhere!!!!

We had an awful tragedy at our house last night. Our washing machine which has been broken was finally “fixed” yesterday and I put in my first load last night. I put in the load of laundry then decided to ride my exercise bike which was in the room next to the laundry room for 30 minutes. When I got off I was sloshing in inch thick water in the carpet. The kitchen and laundry room were 2 inches high with water. It was awful! You know there are always two sides to every story. Also, I believe that a spoonful of Sugar helps the Medicine go down. So here it is the sugar and medicine.

Medicine: Our house was flooded.
Sugar: It wasn’t TOILET water. Yuk.

Medicine: It happened at night, 9:45pm.
Sugar: It happened before Lowe’s closed.

Medicine: Water all over the Kitchen, Laundry Room, Family Room and Office.
Sugar: I got the new “Wet/Dry ShopVac” I’ve always wanted.

Medicine: It was a 5 man clean-up job.
Sugar: Molly & Scott were there to help with the clean-up.

Medicine: The SEARS Kenmore Brand Washer is the reason for the flood.
Sugar: The washer is under warranty and SEARS said they will make it all better.

Medicine: The washer will be out of commission a couple more days.
Sugar: The dryer works fine.

Medicine: Both Brenda and I received & ignored promptings that we should check on the washer.
Sugar: We both received promptings.

Joey Smashes Kobayashi's Record!!

As many of you know I am a BIG fan of Competitive Eating. I am a member of the IFOCE (International Federation of Competitve Eating).
This weekend was the World Krystal Burgers Eating Championship in Chattanooga. Takeru Kobayashi held the world record for eating 97 burgers in 8 minutes. Joey Chestnut came into the competition ranked #1 in the world with #2 ranked Patrick Bertoletti nipping at his heels. A couple weeks ago Patrick beat Joey in the World Buffalo Wing eating competition where he ate more than 4 pounds of Wings in 10 minutes. Sunday Joey Smashed Kobayashi's Krystal Record by downing 103 Burgers in 8 minutes.

Here is a picture of Patrick Bertoletti (#2), Me & Joey Chestnut(#1) from The World Rib Eating competition where I competed aginst them. I ate almost 2 pounds of rib meat in 12 minutes. Joey ate 7 pounds by the way, that's why he's #1.

At that same Rib eating competition Rich "the locust" Le Fevre (#8) broke his front tooth during the competition and swallowed it and kept going to eat over 5 pounds of meat. Here's a picture with Rich and me BEFORE he lost his front tooth.

So I guess the way this works is like a twisted form of Electronic Chain Letter. I have to post 6 Random Facts About me then "TAG" 6 other people with Blogs (small gag) and make them do the same thing.

1-I hate Chain Letters especially the Electronic kind where there is a threat involved like...if you don't forward this e-mail to 6 people you'll have 7 years bad luck.

2-I have only thrown up ONCE in the last 16 Years. I hate throwing up.

3-I HATE cottage cheese. (curdled milk??? Big Gag. But not enough for anything to come up.)

4-I used to think Blogging was for Homo's or do I say Gayish, gaylicous, gayfaboulous. Maybe I'm just a HomoPhobe...No I'm NOT. I love Gay people. Trunk or Treat

Well, tonight I finally had a reason to clean out my trunk. Our ward had our annual Trunk or Treat. Brenda and I dressed up in our Japanese outfits and we decorated our trunk with Japanese stuff and cranked Japanese Music. Our display was the best. Plus, I gave away fistfulls of candy to each kid in our ward.
I can't wait to have kids of our own we can dress up and send out to collect candy for US from other Suckers like us. Gotta make sure there's no razorblades in the Laffy Taffy.

Today we went to church in our new ward for the first time. Good ole 2nd Ward. You guys remember how much fun 2nd ward was right? Even Brenda's familiar with some of the members because they're from the old Stockdale Ward. For the last month or so Brenda has been walking into church with my help. It has surprised some people who have not been kept up to date on Brenda's improvement. The best renuion happened after church when we were walking out to our car. Sister Jorgenson who was sitting in Bishop Davis' car stopped us and asked our names. I said, We're the Waite's." She asked which Waite do you belong to. I said, "My dad is Greg Waite." Then she asked what's your wife's name (meaning maiden name) I said, "She's a Sanchez." Then sister Davis leaned over to Sister Jorgenson and said, "She's Marilyn's daughter." They knew the Sanchez' from Stockdale Ward. Then sister Jorgenson said with a surprised look on her face, "Oh! You're the Cripple! I didn't recognize you." We smiled. "Yep."
We talked about it on the way home and laughed because I guess that's how "Old Timers" talk.
BTW, Brenda's not the cripple anymore. Here she is STANDING outside our house. Halleluia. (Big Smile)

LOST AND FOUND: Weight

As many of you guys know I am on Weight Watchers. This is my 7th week. That's commitment! I know. So far I've lost 20 lbs. Whoopee. Today I weighed in after a very indulgent long birthday weekend in Utah. I was hoping to only have gained 1 pound. To my surprise I actually lost weight. I lost 0.6 lbs to be exact. How much is that exactly you ask. It's as much as a Muttaqin Baby. Check it out.

I heard this noise outside my window last night. At first it was a faint whisper that I couldn't make out. Then it gradually got louder but was still incomprehensible. Finally it got loud enough and I understood what the voice was saying. Now I just wanted to know who said, "Get a blog."
